The Evolution of Video Games, Where will we be in 10 years?

Video Games

December 18, 2017

Although Atari was the first company to create a home console back in 1975 and had their hit arcade game Pong transition to it, I believe that the modern video game console is more a product of the boom that the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) created.  The NES was the first of many Nintendo consoles in a long line of Nintendo.

The Nintendo Entertainment System was introduced to the world in 1985, it was the first to use to use a pad controller over the joystick that the Atari had with its system. Nintendo also was the first company to use the hardware as the loss leader and make their profits from the games themselves as pointed out by JEFF TYSON in his History of Video Games article. This Strategy worked and Nintendo changed the face of the video game market.

by Lexi Sheets

Then in 1988 Sega joined the console market with its Genesis console, which sold well worldwide with its 16-bit graphics. Nintendo responded to this with a 16-bit console their own the Super NES and with it the consoles wars began. Sega and Nintendo would battle for the Market crown for the next ten years. Releasing the Sega CD, Sega Saturn, and the Sega Dreamcast received an answer from Nintendo for each one with the Nintendo V.R, Nintendo 64, and the Nintendo Wii.

Although Nintendo didn’t release the Wii until another heavy hitter joined in the consoles war and was making waves. Sony Entertainment an extension of Sony Inc. had put out on the market a 128-bit console capable of 3D imaging in 1994 with its Sony PlayStation.

With its 3D graphics, it changed the playing field of the console wars to the point that Sega was forced to withdraw from the console wars and turn their focus to making games. Nintendo had to go back to the drawing broad to begin work on what was released as the Nintendo Wii, which wasn’t released until Microsoft had joined the console war.

Microsoft the computer software titan ran by Bill Gates joined the console wars when they decided to put out their version of a Playstation and called it The Xbox.

The Xbox joined the market December 2001. Microsoft had managed to make Sony and Nintendo step-up their game in order to keep up with what Microsoft was doing from year to year. With the Xbox on the market, Sony had to reinvent their Playstation and released the PlayStation 2.

Then Microsoft answered back with the Xbox360, which took gaming to a whole new level. Sony was once again forced to keep up, so Sony responded with another revamp of the PlayStation with the release of the PlayStation 3.

Then on November 15th, 2013 Sony tried to get a one up on Microsoft by releasing the newest console the Playstation 4 seven days before Microsoft released their newest console the Xbox one released on November 22nd, 2013. Both systems have taken gaming graphics to a whole new level while sparking a bit of a rivalry between the two fan bases as to which system is better.

With all advancements in the technology of game consoles where will we be in the next ten years? They have already managed to make our games come to life with realistic graphics what else will they manage to do with them? Will with T.V technology advancing as well, who knows what we’ll see next?

We may see the day when we fully interact with our games much like the holo-decks of Star Trek. Then again we could be playing video games with our minds without the use of controllers.

Wherever games are headed with companies like Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo making them it’s sure to be a wild ride.

Comicbook Craze: The New World of Comics

Comics

December 9, 2017

If you’re a comic book geek like me then you probably have tons of paper made comics stored away in a collection box somewhere. Comic books have been a crazed hobby for decades now. The first comic book was Famous Funnies it was released in the United States in 1933 and was a reprinting of earlier newspaper humor comic strips.

by Lexi Sheets

The earliest superhero comic that had any sort of reference to being the first superhero was Mandrake the Magician; Mandrake's superpower was his ability to “make people believe anything, simply by gesturing hypnotically” Mandrake debuted in 1934, four years prior to Superman. But Superman was probably the first popular superhero.

Superman first debuted in Action Comics issue #1 in June 1938, but from that grew an entire world of comic superheroes. Superheroes of all kinds were quickly making their way to store shelves. Hulk, Spiderman, wonder woman, Captain America so on and so forth.

Soon after the Comic boom hit, collecting comic books became a hobby for boys everywhere. Through the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s even into the 70’s comic books were considered something that only boys did. It wasn’t until the mid to late 70’s the girls started to pick up comic books, mostly to try and figure out what the boys found so interesting about books made up of pictures.

Embed from Getty Images

Well by the early 80’s girls had figured out what was so interesting, as the ratio of girls reading comics had jumped from 1% of the market being female to about 15% of the market are female readers. Today that number is much higher with market research now showing at 46.67% of the market being female readers.

This was the first major change the comic world underwent, going from being a predominantly male-dominated market to being almost a 50/50 market. But now in the second decade of the 2000 era, the comic industry is looking at another major change.

It’s no surprise that comics are on the World Wide Web. Rather, it’s buying your comics online or reading online comics with websites that allow you to read comics online for free. That is if you don’t mind scrolling through them one page at a time while having to scroll down to each page.

Still, this is a nice change since living cost is on a constant rise, and many people just don’t have $3 to spend on a comic book. So, this new age allows those of us that fall into that group of people who can’t afford to buy a comic book. This access allows us to still keep up with our favorite stories and heroes.

But with these type of sites out there as nice as they are, can’t help but think “Is this going to cause the comic industry to collapse?” when you give something away for free your taking money from the creator’s pocket. Money needed to get more supplies, to keep producing more products.

Music artists dealt with this issue back in the early 2000's when Napster was giving away their music for free, which then change to a monthly membership fee. The reason for the fee was probably so the creator of Napster could pay off his lawsuit.

The point I’m trying to make is that if the artist didn’t stand and fight as they did, we might be without music today as music companies would have started to close down, due to lack of funds to produce the product.

I feel like this may be something that the comic world could be facing, allowing their product to be viewed for free. With no incoming funds to keep the supplies in stock that’s need to produce new issues. I do agree though that displaying your work on the internet is smart. It cuts down on cost, allowing you to sell the product at a reduced price thus moving more copies.

This is most definitely the future of the comics industry, and I look forward to seeing the kind of work we will receive through this method of distribution.

Juggalos: Gang or Family?

Lifestyle, Music

December 8, 2017

What is a Juggalo? A Juggalo/Juggalette is a fan of the group Insane Clown Posse or any Psychopathic Records Artist. Insane Clown Posse more commonly referred to as ICP is an underground hip-hop group as are most of the artists on their label. ICP founded Psychopathic Records alongside Alex Abbiss in 1991 with the iconic hatchetman for their logo.

by Lexi Sheets

This hatchet man logo quickly became the symbol for their fan base. What you may not know is that ICP wasn’t always known as the Insane Clown Posse, when these guys first hit the music scene they were actually known as the Inner City Posse it was still Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope but there was another guy as well John Kickjazz (Joseph Utsler) and following their 1991 EP Bassment Cuts the Inner City Posse hired a local record store owner to be the manager; that owner was Alex Abbiss.

Embed from Getty Images

Not long after releasing their first professionally recorded album Dog Beats, the Inner City Posse received a major makeover changing their style, look, and name. What emerged was what we now know as Insane Clown Posse. It was at this point that ICP created the Dark Carnival a concept that would be adopted by many Psychopathic artists to this day.

ICP recruited Esham and Kid Rock for there debut album Carnival of Carnage and the fans began to roll in despite John Kickjazz leaving the group months before it’s release.

This was the raw uncut music we were waiting for, for so long. The truth was in those words and still is all these years later.

You see Juggalos/Juggalettes wanted someone that sees the world as clearly as they did. Someone to have the balls to say the things no one would say back in the 90’s. ICP was that someone. Although we didn’t know we were Juggalos/Juggalettes at that time we were considered different, some might say we were outcast.

But it was through ICP’s music that we all found hope, we had found others that felt the same way we did. We found others that also found solace in ICP’s music. It was that music that had brought all of us together. Soon after coming together through this music we found that this union was much more than just fandom this was a family. Everyone was willing to help each other, even if it meant giving the shirt off their back.

Embed from Getty Images

Now this Family fell under attack by the FBI in 2011 when the FBI decided to label Juggalos a gang. What caused the FBI to label the Juggalos a gang? Well, that still remains unclear to this day. As you’ve probably heard the saying “one bad apple spoils the bunch” well the FBI sees it as “ a few bad apples ruin the crop.”

ICP has been trying to fight this label for some years now, filing a lawsuit against the FBI in 2013. But in government fashion, the case has been held in limbo. ICP is a band that truly cares about their fans, to be going to great lengths to protect them from the despair this label has brought to their lives. Families have been ripped apart all because a parent has a hatchetman tattoo, people have lost jobs all because they listen to ICP, and these are just two examples of the many wrongs happening to Juggalos because of the FBI labeling of the Juggalos a gang.

Gang let’s take a look at that word for a moment. The word gang is defined by the dictionary as an organized group of criminals or as a group of young people involved in petty crime or violence. The Juggalos do not gather to commit petty crime or violence, and most don’t even have a criminal record. Yet the FBI has the Juggalos classified right alongside organizations like MS13, Bloods, Crips, and many other true gangs. Even though the Juggalos are just people who come together in the name of music and the love of family.

Embed from Getty Images

In 2017 when hurricane Harvey stuck Texas, the Juggalos gathered as much water and food supplies as they could and went to Texas to help those in need. There were no MS13’s, Bloods, or Crips on site offering aid, as gangs don’t think of others for anything more than self-gain. Just other of the many reasons Juggalos are not a gang.

The Juggalos is a lifestyle, one of love and acceptance. Juggalos do not judge, they know nothing of hate. These are the people the rest of America should be looking up to as examples of how we all should be living life. With a heart filled with love, and non-judgmental, basically just minding your own business and living your life.

In September 2017 the Juggalos held a march on D.C to protest the gang label. Everyone who knew about it said it was going to be a disaster, that you couldn’t put that many Juggalos together and expect them to protest peacefully. Well, those people were wrong, the Juggalos march on D.C went down as the most peaceful protest of the year.

Yet the FBI maintains its stand as having the Juggalos on the gang list. What do the Juggalos have to do shed this undeserved title of a gang? As a Juggalo, I want to close this article with this. We are not a gang, we’re family. So keep up the fight brothers and sisters, when all is said and done, we will come out on top and have the Juggalos removed from the gang list. Whoop! Whoop!

420: Head High Vs Body High

Hobbies

December 8, 2017

I often get asked which is better head high or body high, and which one I prefer. Well, to break it down we first need to know the difference between the two. So a head high is the feeling you get when you feel like your floating and the earth is moving under your feet. You’ll feel like you're smarter, thinking clearer, and be more focused. This comes from Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) being raced to the cannabinoid receptors in the brain.

by Lexi Sheets

This rush of THC overloads the body’s natural cannabinoid and interferes with the body’s process of fine-tuning communication between neurons, which in turn throws the entire system off balance. Thus you get high, but because THC rushes to the head and gives a psychotropic high, you’ll find yourself thinking more clearly and more focus. This is why you’ll believe you are smarter but actually you were this smart all along. You just needed something to quite the noise in your head and THC is your friend in this case.

THC is also a friend when you have migraines.

Body high is what happens when you feel like you can’t move, and you're glued to your seat, this is called couch lock. This comes from the Cannabidiol (CBD) entering the bloodstream to be delivered to the body. CBD has an anti-pain aspect to it, which is why doctors are doing more research as to how this could be used in the medical field. CBD is also being tested to see how it can help Parkinson's patients deal with the side effect of Parkinson's. CBD is the component that gives you the munchies.

So when you smoke cannabis depending on the strain (Sativa, Indica) will determine which high you get. Sativa strains will give you more of the head high, as Sativa strains tend to have a higher concentrate of THC. Indica will give you more of a body high as Indica strains tend to have a higher concentrate of CBD.

The same people like to have equal parts head/body high for this we have hybrid strains. Hybrid strains are stains made up of the two strains. Of course, the strain will be more dominant to what strain the female place is. So say you have a Sativa female and an Indica male, you can cross-pollinate these two plants to create a Sativa dominant hybrid. This would give you more of the head high but you would also feel the body high of the father plant.

This works the same for you reversed the plants and had an Indica mother plant crossed with a Sativa father plant. You’ll end up with an Indica dominant hybrid which would get you more body high but still getting the cerebral effects.

Everyone has his or her preference, but as for me when I’m asked this question “which do you like more Sativa or Indica?” I have to reply Sativa for every day, but Hybrid for party night. I think there are benefits to both head high and body high. Head high is good for when you need to get things done, but body high is good when you haven’t got a care in the world.

Cannabis Boom: Concentrates are Better than Flower

Lifestyle

December 7, 2017

Cannabis is becoming legalized across the United States with 8 states already having full legalization for recreational and medical use. 11 states have medical and decriminalization laws in effect, and 28 more states have some form of medical use laws in place. With legalization-taking place across the country, dispensaries are popping up everywhere, and with it, people are learning that there are a ton of ways to use Cannabis besides just smoking the buds.

by Lexi Sheets

Cannabis Boom – Marijuana flowering buds with macro crystals( cannabis), hemp plant.

People are learning about the many different edibles beyond the traditional hash or bud brownies. There are lollipops, hard candies, gummies and Chocolate bars of all kinds.

They are also learning that you can get lotions, massage oils, and lip balm with THC that get you high by seeping through your pores.

But none of these methods are making as big a splash in the cannabis world as Concentrates. You’re probably asking what are concentrates? Well, concentrates are any type of cannabis product that is refined from flower into a more purified and potent form.

In the cannabis industry concentrates are referred to as Oils, Dabs, Shatter, Wax, Hash, and Kief. Don’t worry if you’re new to the cannabis scene; I will explain what each of these is in more detail in this article.

Concentrate oils are just what it sounds like, it’s the oils exacted from the marijuana plants using a process that separates the natural plant oils from the cannabis plant. Oils are the most potent way to receive THC/CBD most oils range from 50% to 80% of the cannabis plants THC/CBD content. This, in turn, gives the user a longer lasting and harder hitting high. Because it’s just the oil of the plant you get a smoother hit without the cough you get with flower.

Oils have also entered the edible market as pills. So for those that don’t like to smoke, there is still a way to partake in the cannabis boom and receive all the benefits of this wonderful plant placed here by our loving mother earth.

Dabs, Shatter, and Wax are all essentially the same thing the only thing the sets them apart from one another is the consistency as each one goes through a different process to be made. Dabs come out if it’s process with a tree sap consistency. Dabs require special equipment to smoke, often requiring either a Dab rig or a Vaporizer.

There is a learning curve with this method and you have to preheat the dab nail then use a dabber to handle the dab to the hot nail. This method is best for experienced users.

Shatter is Dabs in a more solid form. It comes out of its process with a consistency of amber and looks like a sheet of ice with honey mixed into it. Although you can add dabs to flower to increase potency, shatter and wax are best for this because of their consistency. Shatter does just that it shatters into small to medium size rocks making it easy to add to a blunt, joint, or use as a bowl topper.

Wax is just that, it’s a wax-like dab that comes in two forms solid and crumble. Crumble wax is made with a similar process as shatter but has pre-purged oils used that generally have a high moisture content, and are cooked at a different temperature than shatter. Which gives crumble its cheese like body after purging it. Crumble can be difficult to work with unless you’re using a portable vaporizer, but is most commonly used as a bowl topper to flower due to the difficulty of handling it.

If you’ve been in the cannabis world long you may already know the next concentrate which is hash. Well, hash is the by-product of the trichomes being separated from the female plant then processed to achieve resin separation. The most common way to do hash is a mobile vaporizer but can also be done using a dabbing rig.

Which brings us to the last concentrate, which is a naturally produced concentrate and its Kief. This is the dust you see on a bud before harvest. Often a majority of the kief is knocked off at harvest and in transit, but what remains can be found at the bottom of a grinder. Cannabis companies have perfected a technique to collect the kief and package it as a bowl topper. That’s what stoners have been doing for years.

Flower contains 10-25% THC after harvest mostly due to the loss of kief and trichomes during the harvest process and transport. Flower is often not allowed enough time to cure properly or time much time in the curing. So you end up with either wet or stick bud that doesn’t stay lit or dry and crumble bud that doesn’t get you as high as it should.

So concentrates are better than flower because they get you higher faster, you have many options on how to do them, they have a much higher THC/CBD content which makes them great people need to medicate. You don’t get the harshness of flower with the endless cough sessions. That’s my take on concentrates, peace, love, and fly high my stoner bothers and sisters.

Apple Pay Cash starts rolling out to iPhone users in the US

Technology

December 4, 2017

by Brian Heater Originally Published on TechCrunch.com via RSS

Apple Pay Cash is finally starting to roll out to users in the States, bringing the ability to send other iOS users payments directly through iMessage. The update is arriving piece by piece to those who’ve downloaded iOS 11.2, which launched two days back with a not-yet-live version of the feature.

Apple Pay Cash was announced back in June at WWDC. However, the company added ahead of iOS 11’s September launch that the feature would be “coming this fall with an update to iOS 11 and watchOS 4,” and while it was intended to launch alongside 11.2, this weekend’s early arrival of the operating system left it behind, as the company worked to push the software live, seemingly in order to address an issue that was causing some iPhones to randomly reboot.

The new feature is a proprietary take on mobile payment apps like Venmo, PayPal and Square Cash, allowing money to be transferred to friends and family in a message or using Siri. Money sent is drawn from the credit or debit card tied to a user’s Apple Wallet. When it’s received on the other side, it shows up as an Apple Pay Cash card — sort of a virtual gift card, also stored in the Apple Wallet.

That money can then be transferred to the bank or kept on the device as a gift card, where it can be spent anywhere that accepts Apple Pay. It’s an added convenience, bringing all of that functionality directly to iMessage, rather than having to mess about with a third-party app. But for Apple, it’s also a way to rope in users who have been reluctant to install Apple Pay, and keep people in the iMessage ecosystem.

The feature appears to still be rolling out in pieces here in the States. No word yet on a time frame for international expansion.

Would the World Collapse if There Were no Sports?

Men's Issues

December 3, 2017

What if sports didn’t exist? Would you be ok with that? Or would you lose your mind? Well, most women would be happy with that, they’d get more time with their men. More of their “honey do list” would get done. For a majority of men, it would be the end of the world, the end of life, as we know it.

by Lexi Sheets

If not for sports, man would still be in the Neanderthal phase of evolution. Well at least close to it. Sports have helped us as human being learn what we are capable of and to push ourselves to do so much more. The first recorded sport was recognized in 760 B.C. Using Man's basic mode of transportation walking and running, they began having footraces and thus Track was born as the first recognized sport. With it, man came to learn that we are inherently competitive.

Fast-forward 1257 years into the future and we have where we have televised team sports. Football, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer and the list just keeps going. But whatever your sport of choice, I’m sure you probably have some kind of obsession with it. Why is that?

Well, there are several reasons for this obsession. You were brought up in a home of sports heads, groomed for it, or maybe your friends were into it. Whatever contributed to your obsession there is a reason. Take me for example; when I was a kid growing up in a backwoods Georgia town, I hated sports. I’d go to my uncle’s house and he’d have football on I’d go to my other uncle's house and he’d have golf on. I just couldn’t get away from the sports.

Then when I turned 16 my mother remarried, and my now step-dad loved football. Which took some getting use too. Entering the living room only to find football on the T.V all season long. Not just pro football either college too.

My home became a sports center for football. Growing up with a dad that had no interest in sports I had very little knowledge of the sports world and no knowledge of football. Which is why I hated the sport so much I didn’t understand what guys found entertaining about watching guys hit each other while fighting for an oddly shaped ball.

Well, that was about to change quickly. My step-dad put me through Football 101 after asking him that one question “ what is so entertaining about watching a bunch of men fight over an oddly shaped ball?” From that day forward I was in Class so to speak every time a game was live. He even had me record the game to a DVD-R so we could re-watch them later to learn schemes and positions.

I spent the next ten years of my life learning every aspect of the game. Once I knew all I needed to know about the game and understood what was going on. I finally understood “what was so entertaining” and I have been a fan ever since.

So, the point of that backstory was to show that most of us that love sports have had someone take the time to teach us what we needed to know, or learned it from the things going on around us. If you say you don’t like sports, then pick one to learn about and you might just find yourself loving it. Having a knowledge of a sport connects us to it.

We, men, like to consider our sports our Soaps with so much drama from week to week how can we not. We even like to put the fate of our lives into our favorite players and teams. With things like “ If he hits a home run, I’m going to get that job.” Or “ If they score a touchdown here, I will ask that girl out.”

We need sports to take our minds off the negative things going on in our lives if only for a few hours, it keeps us sane. If not for sports the world of men would be in total anarchy and chaos, we’d be killing one another at a far greater rate than we do now.

In closing, sports are needed because we humans are competitive beings, men need the distraction to stay sane and have something to talk about. So ladies just leave your man alone and let him enjoy his sports, be glad that at least you know where he is and that he’s not next door screwing the neighbor.

Blackmagic 7-inch Video Assist for DSLR

Technology

December 3, 2017

Today we're looking at the Blackmagic 7-inch Video Assist. This would have to be my favorite piece of camera gear that isn't a camera.

I bought the 5-inch video assist for my DSLR a few years ago, and it was a huge step up from using the back of camera screen. Last summer Blackmagic have a sale, and the seven-inch one was only $500. Now it's really hard to go back to the 5 inches.

The larger monitor is so much nicer to work from. If you've never pulled focus or operated from a 7-inch monitor, it’s a marked improvement. You'll never have focus problems. Going back to the days when we used to try and focus a camera on the back of the DSLR, the tiny little 1.5-inch screen, it was a nightmare. There's no way you can tell whether or not the pin lights in someone's eyes a sharp of such a small screen, it just doesn’t have the resolution. On a larger monitor, it's a piece of cake. You get so much better an idea of the image and the color.

The Blackmagic Video Assist has Many Awesome Features

• SDI in and out
• HDMI in and out
• Mini XLR audio in and out (which is handy for 5d mark 3 where the HDMI out doesn't carry any audio)
• Timecode in

The monitor records externally in 4k 10-bit pro-res in a variety of popular flavors – 444, 442, HQ, LT and others, and it does this to cheap SD cards, not the expensive CFast cards that new cameras are using.

The Video Assist records in 4k, while the actual display is still 2k, it has more than enough resolution to do what it needs to do. The unit also has a USB port that allows you to load in look-up tables or LUTS, that lets you customize the image that you’re seeing if you’re shooting in a LOG mode, as most cinema cameras do now.

As far as monitoring the image, the Video Assist has false color, waveform, histogram, vector gram, grids, and guides. It has everything that you could want in a monitor.

The Blackmagic Video Assist Some Downsides

The unit does have a few downsides, but these can be worked around. It eats power like you wouldn't believe. Unless you use external power, you will find yourself carrying about a dozen Canon LP6 batteries if you want to get through a day’s shooting. The size of the monitor is also not that small. If you have to carry it around all day, you will feel the weight of it. SmallHD makes great monitors that are noticeably smaller, but they are three times the

The power button is something that got a lot of complaints from users. It's not the most convenient location or the most usable design. It’s a little-recessed button that you hold down for 2 seconds to turn on or off the unit. There is also a fan that emits a small hum, but unless you place is right next to the mic, you shouldn’t hear it. I did have an issue once where I mounted it on the same stand as the mic, and the vibration carried through and was audible, but that was an easy fix.

The unit itself is plastic, but it has this great metal exterior that runs around the entire frame, much like an iPhone case. It has quarter-twenty mounts built into to this cage, three in the top and three in the bottom.

Another great feature is that the monitor auto rotates. If you’re set and need to swing the display upside down it, it will automatically adjust the image.

People who’ve worked with other monitors know that there is nothing more annoying than having to go through the options of the monitor upside down trying to image.

All in all, the product works amazingly well for the price. It goes to show when someone like Blackmagic comes along and offers more features than other camera manufacturers for much less money; it disrupts the industry and forces all the other camera manufacturers to innovate or be left behind.

Tom Brady, Can He Play Until He’s 45?

Sports

December 1, 2017

The year was 2000 and a young boy from California was drafted fresh out of Michigan University. Barely 23 years of age, no one knew this kid's name; much less that he would go on to join the ranks of great players known as NFL Legends. That boy was none other than Tom Brady!

by Lexi Sheets

Embed from Getty Images

Either you love him or hate him, Tom Brady’s name is one that is talked about throughout football. Tom was drafted by the New England Patriots as the 199th pick of the 2000 NFL Draft and spent his first season in the NFL sitting on the bench, Playing backup for Drew Bledsoe. The Patriots had no idea what they had sitting on the sideline, their future, their dynasty was waiting for discovery on that sideline.

Embed from Getty Images

Brady got a chance to show what he was made of in the season of 2001 when Bledsoe was injured in a game early in the season. Tom Brady was to fill in for Bledsoe; Brady took every opportunity to show out, even leading the Patriots to the first of many Super Bowl victories. He receives the first of four Super Bowl MVP awards, the most received by a single player to date. All these accomplishments landed him the starting quarterback job for the New England Patriots for the next seventeen years.

He then took the Patriots back to the Super Bowl in 2003 when he lead his Patriots to a 24-14 win over Payton Manning and his Colts. Brady would then go on to lead them to a 32-29 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Winning Super Bowl 38 while also winning Super Bowl MVP award for the second time.

Tom Brady returned the following season to lead his team right back to that very stage. Getting his team to Super Bowl 39 after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 41-27 in the AFC Championship. The Patriots would now have the chance for back-to-back NFL Championships. Facing a Donovan Mcnabb and the Eagles offense proved challenging for Brady and the Patriots, as the final score in Super Bowl 39 was 24-21 with the Patriots edging out the victory with a field goal. Brady had done it, he gave the Patriots their first consecutive Super Bowl victories and thus a dynasty was in the making.

Embed from Getty Images

With an up/down roller coaster ride over the next two years. Brady would return to the field in the 2007 season, leading the Patriots on an undefeated season until they got to the Super Bowl. They entered the Super Bowl with a 16-0 although that was enough to get the Patriots added to the list of undefeated teams. The Patriots came up one short of being truly undefeated when they lost the 2008 Super Bowl to the NY Giants 17-14. But what a feat taking a team on a 16 win ride all while being 31 in a sport that is very unforgiving on the body.

Over the next eight years, Patriots would have a hard time getting anywhere near the big show. Then in 2015 Brady managed to get his Patriots back to the Big Game against the Seattle Seahawks. Thanks to a game-saving interception made by Malcolm Butler that put the ball back in Brady’s hands. Tom took the opportunity to take the lead off the interception putting up 7 more points in a 21-24 to lead his team to a 28-24 win over the Seahawks.

Patriots would make one more run at the Lombardi trophy in 2016 going 14-2 in the regular season to get them to the 50th Super Bowl to face off with the Atlanta Falcons.

Everyone thought it was the Falcons year to get their first Super Bowl win. The Falcons were poised to get that Super Bowl win coming out and scoring 28 points against the Patriots and holding them to only 3 points in the first half of the game.

But, the Falcons forgot who they were playing against, Brady came out in the second half of the game putting up 25 points to send the game into the first ever overtime in a Super Bowl. The Patriots scored a touchdown to win the game 34-28. making it number five for the Pats.

So you may be asking yourself “ I thought this was about Tom Brady playing until he’s 45? What’s with the Super Bowl history?” well your right this is about Tom Brady and rather or not he can play to 45. The history is just to show what all Brady has already endured in his career.

As I said, football is a very unforgiving sport, the toll it takes on one's body can be overwhelming. Most players retire in their late 30’s due to the impact that all those hits have on the body. Pain in the joints, hips, or back can only be kept at bay for so long. Head problems can arise years after playing the game. Which can be a reason for a player to walk away from the game they love.

An injury is the number one reason players leave the field for good. Players never know from one game to the next if it will be their last. One good solid hit or landing the wrong way and you're done. So can Brady stay conditioned enough to avoid these types of injuries for five more years?

Well, seeing that here in 2017 at forty years old, Tom Brady still looks as good as he did when he was twenty-three. Winning nine out of eleven games played so far, and is poised to when his next five match-ups. Despite the fact that many of his top receivers are out with injuries themselves. He has thrown 26 touchdowns this season and only three interceptions. Passed for 3,374 yards so far, and with five more games in the season he could tie or beat his 2011 passing yards record.

So can he play to 45? I say yes! Provided that he doesn’t take a career-ending injury. Skillwise he can definitely play. Healthwise, Brady seems to be in the best shape of his life. So I stand behind him and say play to your heart's content Brady. Just watch your blindside cause that could be the injury I speak of so adamantly in this article.
